Visualization of a molecularly thin film is an extremely useful technique for the investigation of replenishment and retention of thin lubricant films. We have demonstrated that real time visualization of molecularly thin film is possible by using the ellipsometric microscope with a laser light source until now. In this report, the noise image caused by optical interference due to the high coherence of a laser light source is removed by using a white light source with more low coherence as, and the signal to noise ratio has been improved.
