Mo_2NiB_2 ternary boride base cermets is applying to wear resistant materials as alternate materials of cemented carbides. The addition of Cr and V to the cermet causes the structural change of the Mo_2NiB_2 ternary boride from orthorhombic to tetragonal and leads to remarkable important of mechanical properties and structural refinement. In this study, effects of V addition and Mo/B atomic ratio on the mechanical properties and phase formation in Cr containing and V containing cermets respectively were investigated. Around 12.5mass% V addition brought high mechanical properties of the tested cermets.
