Abstract
In order to confirm the applicability of the surface modification by fine particle peening for reciprocal type compressor, friction experiments were carried out at a higher applied load and lower sliding speed in small amount of lubricant. The friction interface was consisted from alloy steel (SCM415) rings and the aluminum die cast (ADC14) discs modified by fine particle peening with steel, glass beads and fly ash particles. As results, the frictional resistance of modified surface with the glass beads and it was concluded that the fine particle peening treatment was available as surface modification of aluminum die cast alloy for improvement of the sliding contact in boundary lubricated condition
