This paper explains an afection of the structural design, to outfit a beam with a side branch, to longitudinal vibration on beams with structural intensity. Side branches has been used in flow structures as an acoustic high pass filter. The structure reducts acoustic vibrations, as if it is longitudinal, whitch has N times quarter wavelength of the branch length when N is any odd number. Structural intensity (SI), which was introduced by Noiseux and Pavic in the 1970s, is defined as the instantaneous rate of energy transfer per unit area in a structure. The SI field indicates the magnitude and the direction of vibratory energy flows at any point in a structure. Then, we exam the noise reduction mechanism of side branch on compound beams with SI for developing a new process for designing structures with low noise and vibration by using SI.
