Abstract
The function of yaw driving system which is mounted to the horizontal axis wind turbine is the device to accord the direction of wind and nussel, and gear drive is main drive method in the past. But the generation of failure which is followed gear surface friction by receiving the upwash wind and shock by receiving the side direction wind is reported. And at the time of swivel part exchanging, a large amount of maintenance cost occurs by using large size construction equipment. Under such circumstance, I suggest the gearless Yaw Axis Swivel Driving System as a new and effective mechanical element. I manufactured and installed this system on an actual wind turbine and examined its performance. In this paper, the result of experimental proof is described.
