In this research, the power source of SMA actuator is light energy which can be used under specific environment. The SMA actuator is driven by heat. Fabricated SMA actuator can be driven under specific environment by converting light energy into thermal energy. Additionally, optical adhesive was used for an energy transmission method from light source. The actuator consisted of a substrate, a SMA, an optical waveguide and an optical fiber. The length of the driving part was 45mm. The uniform heating of the actuator was realized by using a patterned gold thin film. The displacement value of SMA actuator is 4.2mm and the generated force by SMA actuator was 35mN when the irradiated optical output was 0.39W.
