Abstract

Labor shortage caused by depopulation is a big issue in the railroad industry. In this context, improved efficiency of the vehicle maintenance is required immediately. Automatic monitoring method that can solve the issue have been studied, such as we test the conditions of bogies by using camera, which is set on the ground near track to take whole pictures of the bogies. However, motion tracking failed due to sunlight and the shadow of utility poles. In this paper, we examined the installation of a light-shielding fence and a background fence, and evaluated the effect of the shooting environment on the motion tracking accuracy and the suppression of Power Spectral Density variation. After that, testing under condition where the lifeguard were installed in a healthy state and in rattling state, using a light-shielding fence and a background fence, proved that detection of the state can be performed stably even in fine weather. Moreover, testing was conducted under condition where the bolts of the on-board antenna was loose rattling.
