It is well known that rubber components, which are used as railway bogie suspensions like a rubber bushing and so on, change the vibration characteristics such as stiffness over passing the time. This degradation of suspension affects the vehicle running performance. This paper describes the modeling method of the degradation characteristics in the bogie suspension for vehicle dynamics simulation to evaluate the vehicle performance during the long-term operation. Firstly, the accelerated degradation test of the rubber component under the high temperature condition was carried out to obtain the heat aging characterstics of the rubber. Secondly, the thermo-oxidative degradation was modeled based on the test results to predict the changes in the rubber properties. By comparing calculaton and test, it was confirmed that the calculation results of the change of stiffess in rubber suspension were in good agreement with the heat aging test results. And finally, the effect of the thermal degradation for rubber suspension was evaluated at operating ambient temperature.
