The effect of reinforcement of elastic modulus in polymer composite materials filled with ultramicroscopic particles has been investigated by taking an example of polymethyl methacrylate-palladium cluster composites.
The singularity that makes the elastic modulus increase twice has been indicated by filling up the microscopic fine particles of 10-20Å in spite of a little volume which is 0.005%. This singularity is caused by the fact that the microscopic particles and the matrix, are perfectly unificated in the materials. The reinforcement of elastic modulus can be explained by the perfect parallel model in consideration of the interface restriction regions. It is clearly shown that such singularity is brought in only by the relative size effect of microscopic particles in such perfect composite materials.
