Abstract
Tyrosinase inhibitors in cow liver were extracted with 0.25 M sucrose containing 10-3M ethylendiamine tetraacetic acid. Subsequently, they were partially purified by centrifugation (105, 000 X g, 60min), heat treatment (100°C, 10 min) and gel-filtration with a Sephadex G-25 column. The propertiesof the partially purified tyrosinase inhibitors were studied and the following results were obtained : 1. Molecular weight of a tyrosinase inhibitor in cow liver was estimated to be less than 5, 000. 2. This tyrosinase inhibitory activity was stable against the heat treatment and unaffected by treatment with p-chloromercuri benzoic acid.
3. The inhibitor showed the maximum absorption at about 260 mμ and the minimum absorption at 225 mμ.
