Abstract
This paper presents the importance of "character" in designing a communication robot. In order to study human-robot interaction, we tried to develop a robot without a specific character. However, the robot had a character due to the cognitive activity of the user. Because the user does cognitive activities to the robot that interact, and to imagine the character of the robot.
We found that it is impossible to completely eliminate all the character from the robot.
Therefore, it is important to design the affinity of the robot's character and the purpose of research. The design of the robot's character is very important in human-robot interaction.
Appropriate design of the character allows the robot to give the user suitable impression for its purpose.
