Structure of α-cyclodextrin (α-CyD) inclusion complex with polyethylene glycol (PEG) was studied by scanning tunneling microscopy, which was in good agreement with the previously proposed structural model of molecular necklace. Conformations of α-CyDs threaded on PEG were determined on the basis of lattice matching between an α-CyD and the MoS2 substrate.
