Unfortunately, the writer has never had the opportunity to read Humm's report, but according to Bergson, Humm's equation was very reliable for designing the acid tower of sulfite pulp mill.
So, the writer has in the paper analized this equation as the analogy of light absorption and found a correlation between this equation and the equation from H.T.V., but there are some assump tions necessary in reaching that equatign from the latter. These assumptions, however, were found to be appropriate for commercial plants. Therefore, Humm's equation serves as the approximate equation deduced from H.T.V.
