Abstract

Since the digester is the cylindrical pressure vesselwhich consists of the steel plates reinforced with riveted bats, and the anti-acid bricks lined along the shell, the stress distribution of the shell during operation is very complicated.
The authors measured the stress distribution in the shell of digester at hydraulic test and during operation, by use of electric resistance strain gauges, and discussed mainly the stress values neighbouring the bats.Consequently, they obtained many useful data on the design or the operation of digester.
