Comparison Between Electric-IR and Gas-IR Dryers for Coating Drying

Abstract

The difference in way of operation and energy consumption between Ircon electric IR dryer and Gas-IR dryers are discussed in this report. The use of electric IR can be motivated also where gas is cheap. Below we describe the main differences and which applications that are best suited for electric IR.
There are today several independent scientific reports on the radiation efficiency of commercial heaters and burners. A summary of these results can be found at the end of this paper. As a summary they conclude that the radiation efficiency of electric heaters varies between 76-83.5% and for Gas-IR burners it varies between 36 and 46%(under ideal burner conditions).
