Application of Permanent Magnetic Bar to the Prevention of Traumatic Gastritis and a Method of Removing It from the Stomach

Abstract

“Pernet A, ” a permanent magnetic bar, is placed in the reticulum through the mouth for the prevention and treatment of traumatic gastritis, gastrophrenitis, pericarditis, and hepatitis and other diseases caused by the presence of metallic objects in the body. In principle, it is allowed to stay in the reticulum permanently. Experience shows that there have been no disturbances in cows with Pernet A in the stomach. It seems to be an ideal method to administer the magnetic bar to calves when they reached six months of age.
Sometimes the magnetic bar attracts too many metallic pieces to display its magnetism. In such case, it must be taken out of the stomach and freed of those pieces.
