Abstract

Six Yorkshire piglets were purchased and raised on a pig farm in the suburbs of Hiroshima. They were housed in the same shed for 2months, when all of them were found to have tumors ranging from quail's egg to hen's egg in size and scattered on the skin of the whole body. Autopsy was conducted on them, except two, and revealed no other lesions than these tumors.
Corynebacteriumpyogeneswas isolated from the pus of the suppurative foci of the 4 dissected piglets in pure culture, but not from blood, spleen, liver, kidney, or lung of any piglet.
