Abstract

The Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) is one of the robust CFD models to solve the fluid dynamics. In the present study, the LBM for the Shallow Water Equations is developed to simulate tsunami propagation and coastal inundation. The offshore boundary conditions and nesting technique for multi-scale grid are developed for practical use of LBM. The model is validated, for a potential tsunami scenario by the comparison with the Finite Difference Method. The results imply that LBM has a sufficient accuracy and robustness for tsunami propagation and inundation modeling.
