抄録

The 3D-MPS method has been employed to solve the violent free surface flows due to particles dumped into water. And the distinct element method (DEM) has been applied to a tracking of Lagrangian particle motion. To avoid the numerical instability due to discontinuity between solid and liquid phases, the 3D-DEM-MPS method with accurate particle method has been developed in the present study. Then numerical simulation for sedimentation process with high resolution has been performed to represent eddy shedding off the surface of the settling particle. The newly developed solver has been verified by comparison with experimental results for sedimentation. Furthermore, the eddy structure around settling particles has been shown computationally.
