Effect of Aluminium Ion on KDP Crystallization

Abstract

Face growth rates were measured on (101) and (100) faces of a KDP (KH₂PO₄) crystal at different supersaturations in the presence of aluminium ion added as impurity. The supercooling temperature was also measured. The growth rate of (100) face decreased dramatically. When the impurity was added, the critical supercooling temperature increased and the crystallized particle size increased.
