The aim of the study is to present the educational significance of lectures that incorporate “book talk.” Experts commissioned by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology point out the need for improving general education in a university. We improved student learning of a lesson by using the university library. A library staff member received a request from a teacher, who then introduced a book that matched the theme of the lesson to the students in class. Students then selected books using the information given by the teacher and studied with book talk. It was revealed that mutual book talk among students had a greater effect on their learning than unilateral information provided by teachers.
