Abstract
We made a prospective study of age cohorts aged from 30 to 70 for 6 years and made a comparison of their body weight curve describing transition between males and females. Body weight was increasing toward the first half of the fifties and up to its peak, and was decreasing in the sixties. In males their body weight reached at the peak earlier than in females. As body weight of both sexes was increasing in adulthood, it is necessary for weight management to suppress the peak body weight. On the other hand in old age their body weight was shifting to decrease, therefore health guidance on active weight loss for old people except for heavy obesity may not always be important for their health.
