Abstract

A case of cecum carcinoma of a 9-year-old girl was reported. Histopathologically, the tumor was well and/or moderately differentiated, tubular adenocarcinoma. Immunohistochemical studies revealed that the oncoproteins of c-erbB-2,c-myc, H-ras and p53 were positive in the tumor cells. Incidence of colon carcinoma is low in the child. 62 cases of colon carcinoma were reviewed on the basis of reports in the Japanese literatures of children under 15 years of age. The children prognosis is quiet unfavorable because of these three factors- delay in diagnosis, advanced stage of disease, and poorly differentiated histology.
