Sufficient material of Gymnoderma melacarpum became available for the determination of chemical substances in it by TLC analysis. Although only grayanic acid was formerly reported as a chemical substance found in all collections G. melacarpum, didymic acid was found consistently as an additional organic compound in the species. Although other several unidentified substances were found in G. melacarpum, no positive correlations between chemical components and morphological variations were found.
