Air pressure pulses occurred in drainage pipes induce oscillating motions of water in drain traps accompanied with the outflow of a part of the water. This paper deals with the behavior of the water as the transient response of oscillation system. In this system, mass of the water decreases momentarily. A mathematical model for the system is introduced. With making impulse response model experiments and the simulations, the system parameters of the mathematical model are indentified. This method is one of the system identification methods in modern automatic control theory.
