In this paper, the revised k-ε model is applied to a turbulent wake and a mixing layer. The range of the model constants in the revised k-ε model are examined using an analytical study of the similarity solution. As a result, it is found that the diffusion and convective terms are dominant in all free shear layers, including turbulent jets. It is also found that the magnitude of the diffusion effect in the center of the turbulent wake is different in order compared with that in the experimental data. Based on these results, two model constants in the k equation and five model constants in the ε equation are estimated, but two model constants in the ε equation remain undermined.
