The most important issue concerning diesel engines is to remove PM in exhaust gas of a diesel engine and to regenerate PM from trapped components. In this paper we demonstrate that PM removal equipment which consists of negative and positive nets charged from negative and positive poles of a DC-converter is able to collect PM using low voltages. The test results show that low-voltage electrical collection was superior in physical collection compared to using just a filter, with regard to the collective and regenerative efficiency. The best regeneration procedure was the liquid detergent method rather than the use of compressed air and burnout to CO2 by an electrical heater.
