The liquid flow perfused from the cannula into an aortic arch glass model was visualized by using the PIV method. The transparent glass model of a human aortic arch was fabricated based on the CT image of that of a normal adult man. The End-Hole cannula, which is used at the real surgical operation of the heart, was inserted in the upper part of an ascending aorta. To prevent the laser light scattering at the wall of a glass model, the aortic arch model with a cannula was submerged in a rectangular glass water tank. In the common median plane, the large vortex flow is induced by the liquid jet flow issued from the cannula. In the cross sectional plane, the twin vortices are induced by the impingement of a liquid jet on the inner wall, and then they are coalesced into one vortex. The rms value of the velocity and the magnitude of the strain rate tensor show their large values in the vicinity of the outer wall of curvature of the aortic arch model.
