Fuel cells (FC) produce electricity by reacting hydrogen and oxygen electrochemically by use of the membrane electrode assembly (MEA). Similarly, hydrogen pressure difference between anode and cathode can produce electricity according to the principle of “concentration cell”. We can pump up or separate hydrogen from the low H, partial pressure anode to the high H, partial pressure cathode as a reverse reaction, when we supply electricity to MEA. In particular, the depleted hydrogen exhausted from FC can be recovered by the hydrogen separation pump (HSP), or the low pressure hydrogen can be pumped up to high pressure hydrogen by the hydrogen compression pump (HCP). In this paper, we have preliminarily tested the HSP and HCP operation characteristics, and good performances of HSP and HCP were shown. The tested performances were analyzed by our hydrogen pump simulation model. The calculated results of current distributions agreed well with the measured results.
