This paper deals with a practical study of the calculation method for the nonlinear response of piping-support systems with gap in industrial plants. By numerical simulation with a simple model, the reduction effects due to the gaps on the maximum response of the piping is evaluated in terms of a "response reduction factor" proposed in the previous paper. From the characteristics obtained for various piping parameters, a conventional calculation method for the response reduction factor based on the maximum linear responses of piping system can be presented. It is made clear that the conventional method is reasonable compared with the numerical simulation results. This method has an advantage such that the maximum nonlinear responses can be easily calculated using those of the linear piping-support system.
