A dynamic model through which the effect of the vibrating foundation on the output signal of a beam-type load-cell scale with a scalepan can be considered is proposed. The model is a 5 degree-of freedom vibratory model which enables us to understand the behavior intuitively. Based on the model, the fundamental equation describing the relationship between the output signal and the vibration of the foundation is derived. The frequency-response characteristics of the output signal are examined both experimentally and theoretically, and the discussion confess on the dependence of the response characteristics on the load location. The result shows that the experimental values agree well with the theoretical ones and that the model can be applied in the case of such vibration problems mentioned above. The important problems, for example, the effect of nonstationary vibration or stationary random vibration of the foundation, can also be examined through the proposed model.
