In the present report, we discuss the control method to realize the constant feed of granules from a loss in weight type feeder. Usually, the outflow quantity integrated per unit time is used as the controlled variable from the viewpoint of the accuracy in the control of the outflow rate from a loss in weight type feeder. In this experiment, however, a instantaneous outflow rate per unit time is used in order to achieve better accuracy of feeding. Generally, the outflow quantity is pulsatingly discharged from the feeder owing to the shape of the screw. Thus, we consider two control methods: one where the outflow rate signal filtered by a lowpass filter is taken as the controlled variable, and another that considers the pulsating component. As the control algorithm, the LQI control algorithm is applied for the former, and the STR control algorithm is for the latter. As for the results, good response waves and good control performances are obtained by applying these algorithms to the feeder system.
