In this report, loss factor of laminated beam (five-layered beam) with fixed ends, which core layers are multi-separated in equally, is analyzed and the damping characteristics of the beam are evaluated by the strain energy analysis. As the results, it is clarified that the damping characteristics of the beam with multi-separation of the core layers increase 50∼100% in comparison with the non-separated beam, except for the case in which the modulus of rigidity of the core material is extremely small, and an effective number of separation exists. In addition, it is clarified that the damping characteristics of the beam, which core layers are separated optimum arrangement for each vibration mode, are improved further than the beam with the core layers separated in equally. These analytical results are verified by means of an impact test for these beams.
