A 66-year-old man entered our hospital because of severe macro-hematuria. He had been diagnosed as having localized prostate cancer at 59 years of age and had been undergoing hormonal therapy. By imaging, we diagnosed local recurrence of the prostate cancer with urethral bleeding. Hemostasis was immediately achieved by superselective chemoembolization and prostate size was decreased remarkably. One year after treatment, regrowth of the prostate was found by CT, but the size was still less than 50% of that before treatment.
Merit and demerit of arterial chemoembolization of the recurrent prostate cancer was discussed.
