It is well known that polymeric systems exhibit a wide variety of self-organized structures such as droplet dispersed and bicontinuous structures in polymer blends, sphere, cylinder, lamella, and gyroid ones in diblock copolymer systems. Various numerical methods have been developed to investigate static and dynamic properties of self-organized structures appeared in polymeric systems. Among others, it has been recognized that self-consistent field theory and linear mean field theory have a prominent potential to predict phase behaviors of polymeric systems. In this article, the self-consistent field theory and recently developed linear mean field theory are introduced.
