We studied the effects of 2-aminopyridine derivatization of oligosaccharides on their MS/MS fragmentation. Sodium ion did not have high affinity to the 2-aminopyridine part comparing to the normal reducing end residue. So, the N-acetyl group in GlcNAc has high affinity to the sodium ion rather than 2-aminopyridine group in the PA-oligosaccharides.
