Since 1975, AGC Asahi Glass (AGC) has been one of the leading companies in ion exchange membranes including the membrane for Chlor–Alkali Industry. We have continuously developed higher performance membranes due to the requirement of high current efficiency and low cell voltage under severe and various operation conditions in this market. For recent development, FLEMION® F–8080 series was released in 2011 for its low CV and high stability against the brine impurities. In addition, F–8080A was released in 2015 as a membrane suitable for a zero gap electrolyzer. Furthermore, Next Generation FLEMION® membrane; Fx–9010 has just been launched in 2017, which has the lowest cell–voltage in the market, wider operation range, and higher durability against impurities. On the other hand, a new sulfonic acid type ion exchange membrane that can be tried for various electrochemical devices will also be launched in 2017, which is called FORBLUE TM S–series. In this study, performances of Fx–9010 for Chlor–Alkali electrolysis and outline explanation of new sulfonic type membrane are reported.
