Abstract
By changing the conventional settling separation method for activated sludge process to membrane separation method, the membrane bioreactor for wastewater treatment has created a new field in wastewater treatment. Features of this method include smaller reactor tank, shorter processing time and improved treated water quality. Systems that incorporate the membrane bioreactor are applicable to industrial wastewater treatment as well as various water treatment lines suitable to biological processes. Now, application of this method to sewage treatment is being studied widely. Furthermore, a hybrid type bioreactor treatment combined with absorption treatment is also being proposed and future development can be expected.
