This paper presents indoor positioning system based on path loss of Bluetooth wireless transmission. Algorithms for organizing ad-hoc network and multi-hop data transmission have been developed in order to cover wider area than transmission range of the Bluetooth. The system will automatically select some fixed stations that are close to the mobile station and organize a measurement area to guarantee the best position accuracy. Moving obstacles are detected and compensated for by comparing the path losses with the pre-calibrated path losses between the fixed stations. Field tests intended for job analysis at shipyard have shown that the overall accuracy of the system was 1.6[m].
