Abstract
Abstract:
Endophytic fungi isolated from medicinal plants have been reported to have some active substances. Endophytic fungi were isolated from Panax ginseng used as traditional Chinese medicine. Among them some isolates were identified as Phoma sp. with morphological examination and molecular analysis and were found to have active substances and antibacterial activity. Antibacterial activities were examined by filter diffusion method and inhibition ratio against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus was calculated. The results showed that the maximum inhibition ratio of these isolates was 76%. Active substances were crudely extracted with ethanol solution from fermentation broths. Saponin was detected in high concentration from these isolates. It was also suggested that panaxoside Re reported as an important active substance of Panax ginseng was produced by these endophytic isolates after comparing with panaxoside Re by TLC.
