A new optimization method in designing pigmented coatings which considers both thermal and aesthetic effects was introduced by authors in previous studies. The proposed coatings highly reflect the NIR region of solar irradiation to reduce the unwanted thermal heating and to decrease the cooling load demand. On the other hand, to have a dark color because of aesthetic appeal they minimize the reflectance of visible light. This study focuses on optimization of two different types of cupper oxide pigment particles namely cupric oxide and cuprous oxide and comparison with metallic cupper parrticles. Optimum particles size, particles volume concentration and coating thickness are obtained according to proposed method and the performances are compared.
