Color printers based on color electrophotographic copying machine has been spread rapidly to short run printing market from office document reproduction market. A comparison study of image quality between electrophotographic print and offset print was performed. In the study, the offset printing system was supposed to be a kind of reproduction system, and the reproduced offset prints were compared with electrophotographic prints reproduced by various color copying machines.
The results of quality ratings of text, graphics and pictorial images indicated that the image quality of offset print on coated paper was superior than electrophotographic prints but electrophotographic prints were superior than offset print on plain paper.
