The real reason why Motoo, feeling the world like a prison, renounced it comes from what Nietzshe called "le sentiment", which is the other side of the "pride" regarding oneself as absolute being. As long as he has this " pride " in his mind, Motoo's prayer never reaches the deity. It is not until he is defeated by the Prince of Darkness that he becomes aware of the "pride" in himself. And when he finally throws his "pride" away, he is saved and led into the world of "Higan" by the deity who is amoral and absolute, making antinomy with the Prince of Darkness.
