Twenty-one cases of sporotrichosis treated at our clinic from December, 1981 to April, 1992 were statistically evaluated. The incidence of sporotrichosis was 0.14% among all outpatients. A higher percentage was noted in patients over 50-years-old, and females were affected more than males. Nine cases (43%) were farmers, while 14 cases (67%) had a history of antecedent injury. The causative organisms could be found in 13 of 18 patients (72%) in paraffinized sections.
