We have treated three cases of shotgun injury of the extremities. They were 43, 50 and 67 years old males.
Generally, the shotgun injury of the extremities somewhat differs from that of the other parts according to the condition of the wounds and the method of treatment.
These wounds are usually associated with massive tissue destruction.
From our experience, we would recommend extensive débridement, internal fixation of fractures and primary would closure with split-thickness skingraft.
