Of the twenty six patients with wide laminectomy for the lumbar canal stenosis in the past three years, we experienced five cases of post-operative lumbar canal stenosis. Among them, three cases were post-fusion stenosis and two cases were post-laminectomy stenosis. Except one, all cases have elapsed more than six years from the first operation.
Operation findings
Post-Fusion Stenosis:
Instability of the disc just above fusion mass.
Thickening and infolding of the ligamentum flavum.
Hypertrophy and projection of the articular processes.
Laminar hypertrophy.
Post-Laminectomy Stenosis:
Haevy scar tissue at the site of love's laminectomy.
Ligamentous thickening and hypertrophy of the lamina.
