Abstract
The spinal canal configuration of 40 cases which were diagnosed as the lumbar spinal stenosis was determined by plain roentgenograms. Our previous report (1978) applied to the measurment of plain roentgenograms and the determination of the canal configuration.
The results were as follows.
1) The trefoil canal was found in 25 cases (62.5%) of the lumbar spinal stenosis.
2) Concerning the superior notch distance and interfacetal ratio, the stenosis group was almost the same as the trefoil canal control group.
While it seems that the bony canal plays an important role in the lumbar spinal stenosis but this is not the only factor.
