The purpose of this study is to find out the factors that influence the occurrence of the deformity of the bony nucleus. Materials consist of 116 patients, 152hips, which were treated by Lorenz's method.
These cases were followed up for fourteen years or more. Consequently, the age of treatment is the most important factor on the occurrence of the deformity of the bony nucleus. Namely, the frequency of the deformity of the bony nucleus was higher in the cases of less than two year olds than those over it. In the cases in which the treatment was begun in the early stage and had severe involvement of the bony nucleus, a deformity of the proxymal end of the femur was detected in X-ray pictures in the adult age.
On the other hand, X-ray pictures of the cases in which the time of treatment was later, showed considereable dysplasia of the acetabulum in the adult age.
