Abstract

Osteoporosis suggests an imbalance of involving total body calcium. We payed attention to the intravenous calcium injection for patients with osteoporosis.
(Method 1) Applying to Pak's method, we had done calcium infusion of 15mg Ca (as calcium gluconate) per kg. to patients with osteoporosis, and evaluated the change of serum Ca, P, Al-p, PTH (parathyroid hormone), T3 (triiodothyronine), DHEA-s (dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate), Androstenedione before and after infusions.
In method 2 (our method), we injected calcium intravenously to osteoporotic patients within two or three minutes and evaluated the change of serum Ca, P, Al-p, PTH, e. t. c. before and after injections. All patients showed an improvement in clinical symptoms. But there was no change in serum Ca, P, Al-p, PTH, e. t. c.
In method 3 (CT number), we investigated the relation between CT number and Ca, P, Al-p, the previous hormone, MCI (metacarpal index), GSmin, GSmax, e. t. c. on the patients with osteoporosis. The results showed that there was a close connection between CT and age, and between CT and MCI.
