A 29 year old male was seen with severe leg pain in October of 1986. There was no prior history of trauma. On December 12, 1986, he was admitted to our hospital with a chief complaint of paraplegia. The myelogram showed a complete block at the T8 level, and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) revealed a mass lesion in the spinal canal from T8 to the sacral region. On December 16, 1986, decompressive laminectomy was performed from T6 to S1 and the tumor was partially removed under microsurgical technique. Histological diagnosis was myxo-papillary ependymoma. One year postoperatively he could stand independently, and walk about 10 meters with the aid of a crutch. Further careful follow-up is needed.
